In recent years, it was customary for the Bundes-tag to raise the rainbow flag atop the Reichstag for Christopher Street Day. This year, however, Bundestag President Julia Klöckner refused and banned the display of any Pride flags. Chancellor Friedrich Merz backed the decision, saying the Reichstag is “not a circus tent.” Instead of celebrating Pride,
politics chose to conceal it – sparking a debate about Germany’s stance on diversity.

No rainbow flag flying over the Bundestag? Then we’ll place it somewhere else: under the Bundestag. In full view of the Reichstag — directly in Julia Klöckner’s and Friedrich Merz’s line of sight — but down in the subway, where politics don’t make the rules. We do. If the government won’t show the colors of tolerance, the BVG will, turning the Bundestag station into the very symbol they tried to hide — and sending a clear message of Pride and inclusion.
